Tortola to Hawaii Sail

Tortola to Hawaii!
When she leaves charter service in Tortola, our 3-cabin, air-conditioned
Beneteau Oceanis 393  will become our retirement boat in Hawaii. We
plan to sail her (one week at a time) down to and through the Panama
Canal, up the west coast to Mexico, and eventually to Hawaii.

We have cabins available for part of the trip. Here is the plan:

  • Tortola to Aruba (500 nautical miles).
  • Next Aruba to Panama (600 nautical miles).
  • Through the Panama Canal, then up the coast to Costa Rica (300
    nautical miles).
  • On to San Salvador (350 nautical miles).
  • San Salvador to Acapulco (650 nautical miles).
  • Acapulco to Puerto Vallarta (400 nautical miles).
  • Across the Sea of Cortez to Cabo San Lucas (300 nautical miles).

From there, either up the coast to San Diego (700 nautical miles), or
directly to Honolulu (2673 nautical miles). San Diego to Honolulu is 2271
nautical miles. We might decide instead to sail to Marina Del Rey and
join the Transpac Race to Honolulu.

Upon arrival in Hawaii, our 3-cabin Beneteau Oceanis 393 will be
available for inter-island sailing with a tourguide/sailor.
